The world itself with its warring groups and weird zealots wasn't very well fleshed out. The sheer multitude of end-of-page footnotes and sources is distracting and the whole first half of the book is made up of yawning historical minutia documenting every possible sect and assembly of persons from the beginning of time to the present which resisted the truth of God's Word, yet any storyline of Teichrib's involvement in any of the meetings is swallowed up by digression into (once again) past groups that, yes, contributed to the onward progression of opposition to the truth, but that he could not be old enough to have participated in. It's a very quick read and had me hooked from the very beginning. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and children. Very comprehensive. During a year of world-wide disasters, riots, and unexplainable events, the Ashcraft family discovers the faith they didn't know they needed. We are dumped in a new area with new weird people then sent to another of the groups at war to be told more weirdness and there's a little military rescue mission stuff thrown in and a bit of weird sex. He ties together many facets of life that are espousing the oneness doctrine and analyzes them from a Christian worldview.

I am 3/4 of the way through, having had to just skim large segments to keep my sanity, and hoping in the last few chapters he will just get to the point.
Carl takes the time to cite his many sources on the pages throughout the book so you can reference them as you are reading. It suggests deep meaningful characters with drives and motivation yet they might as well be stick figures or stand ins. I hope so, I would buy it.
