Located about a 40-minute drive northwest of South Lake Tahoe, just north of Meeks Bay, Ed Z'Berg Sugar Pine Point State Park is set on a beautiful point of land on the edge of Lake Tahoe. The mansion provides an interesting view into the lifestyles of the wealthy on Lake Tahoe. Masks are required in public buildings and spaces where physical distancing is not easily maintained.

Sites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. From the turn of the century until 1965, the lands of what is now Ed Z'berg - Sugar Pine Point State Park were owned by financier Isaias W. Along the waterfront of Meeks Bay is a large, crescent-shaped beach with shallow water, perfect for young children. Tall pines line the rocky shoreline and look out over the shallow, turquoise waters that transition to a glistening dark blue before reaching the mountains on the far side of the lake. Limited visitor access to exhibits inside building. Pets of any kind are not accepted at this resort. Day use areas and trails remain open. The Lake Tahoe area is a popular destination and reservations are required at this time. The campground does not have hook-ups, but there are showers and a dump station for registered campers.

For a quieter and cheaper camping experience, consider September. The maximum size is 18 feet, and the maximum size for a trailer is 15 feet. The waters of General Creek are among the clearest waters flowing into Lake Tahoe and the stream is open to fishing from mid July to mid September.A fishing license is required.Cross-Country SkiingWinter visitors to the park will find over 20 kilometers of marked cross country ski trails and a heated restroom in the General Creek campground. The park's campground is set high up above the lake, with sites closest to the lake offering glimpses of the water through the pine trees.

Located just down the beach from Meeks Bay Beach Resort and Marina is the small, federally operated Meeks Bay Campground.

Facilities include flush toilets, showers, and an RV dump station. South Lake Tahoe's hotel selection leans heavily towards mid-range in terms of quality, although prices are often quite high during peak times.

The best time to camp at Lake Tahoe is from June through to the end of August. Fees for on-season camping are $35 per night.
