Discussing and potentially embracing an explicitly secular form of spirituality could make it easier for believers to imagine life without belief and could make our community more attractive for those who have come to doubt their faith. In Pew Research Center’s 2019 religious knowledge survey, atheists were among the best-performing groups, answering an average of about 18 out of 32 fact-based questions correctly, while U.S. adults overall got an average of roughly 14 questions right. 7 In many cases, being an atheist isn’t just about personally rejecting religious labels and beliefs – most atheists also express negative views when asked about the role of religion in society . A Pew survey from April revealed that 24 percent of U.S. adults — mainly those who are already religious — said their religious faith has been strengthened due to the pandemic, while only 2 percent said it’s been weakened (47 percent said it’s remained the same). That is, since atheists have experiences spiritual experiences do not result from religious beliefs but from unconscious spiritual processes.
If so, then it may be a term you can use and it will mean just what you "feel" it conveys.
