If you ask me Watch the Throne is 100.000.000 gallons of tons better than west coast rap...Jay & Kanye are taking over in this one.
But should that be all we could ask for?
Maybe you've heard of this one? Don't waste your time with the reguler version do yourself a favor get the deluxe trust me its worth it.
My favorite tracks are no church gotta have it, n in paris, otis, ham, lift, This is incredible album jay z & kanye west did a masterpiece. But while Jay might be billed first for seniority's sake, Kanye is this album's obvious guiding force. Any album with Jay-z and Kanye will just be. On "Otis" and "Gotta Have It", he reduces Otis Redding and James Brown to simple grunts, then builds rhythm tracks out of them. Kanye's opus My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, still less than a year old, won across-the-board critical raves for its lush, prog-rap expansiveness; to create it, Kanye sequestered himself in Hawaii and flew in an endless stream of creative-peak collaborators. Consider, for example, the song "That's My Bitch", on which Kanye and his collaborators flip the classic "Apache" break into a devastating dance-rap monster with synths zooming off in every direction and Justin Vernon making the aforementioned sweaty soul moves.
First it was a five-song EP; now, it is a full blown album with bonus tracks. It's a vicious song, catchy as fuck, but it turns out to be weirdly awkward. One track – the frankly rocking "Why I Love You" – finds the overgrown apprentice and his former master twitching sleeplessly, trading lines, wondering which of their trusted consiglieri will deliver the coup de grace. Between now and January, we'll be collecting top 10 lists published by major music critics, publications, and websites, and tallying their cumulative picks to determine the best albums of 2011. On "Otis", for instance, West declares himself "Luxury rap/ The Hermès of verses". First published on Sun 14 Aug 2011 09.05 AEST. Kanye and Jay live up to their egos and literally remind us how brilliant they are, which is all we could’ve asked for. Definitely not the album that I was expecting, and it proves to be for the better. "H.A.M." the beats are ok, not hard, acually just soft, and i just can't believe this is cool to listen 2, what, i can't believe people like this guy. Possibly. Having studied power they know that their most likely nemesis is not some gun-wielding fan, but hubris. But tracks such as "Murder to Excellence" and "Made in America" make plain the reasons Carter and West are bullish about their achievements. They finished the album in March; in April, Mike Dean announced that they restarted the entire mixing process. based on The single "Otis" is dizzy fun, with Jay and Kanye rapping hard and swapping mics like hungry kids. With fantastically varied production, Watch the Throne marches hungrily forward, belying its genesis in a series of swanky hotel rooms. They sound like they're on the same page only during fleeting moments, and when those slip by, listening inevitably is more frustrating than fulfilling. A complete album in every way, kudos to Kanye and his production work with a few smudges, but congratulations to. 42 The sound of this album is phenomenal, you can hear that in tracks like "Otis" or "Ni *** s in Paris" that remain above all of international hits.
Watch the Throne works best when Jay and Kanye are just talking about how great they are. The sentiment deserves respect, but his laidback delivery, on a track with production and structure that call for ferocity, drains his ideas of force. Thanks for no leaks, If you ask me Watch the Throne is 100.000.000 gallons of tons better than west coast rap...Jay & Kanye are taking over in this one.
this album is one of the best collabo albums. Jay and Kanye debuted the album in a private listening session at a New York planetarium, a setting which made perfect sense: even if it never approaches the grandeur or character-study complexity of Twisted Fantasy, this is still exploding-star music. was the first single, a supposed indicator of things to … -
This rather enjoyable piece of maximalism feels quite at home on an album writ so large, both in sound and verse, that a planetarium was deemed the only fitting venue for its first playback. the beats are ok, not hard, acually just soft, and i just can't believe this is cool to listen 2, what about immortal technique, or anything but this, i really can't believe people would buy a kanye album or listen 2 a song or admit that they like it, id rather say i like hannah montanna then kanye, i mean seriously kanye's rap lyrics are so weeak you would thinkl a second grader wrote them, man whatever the critics are sayin, kanye west is not cool, and neither are drugs, this album is terribel, jayz's old stuff is ok get that instead but don't buy this garbage, and user reviews i can't believe people like this , I REALLY CAN'T -1 out of 10 awful sounding, and awful music, no message, but people still buy this, i can not figure out how anyone can like kanye , i really can't, 2011 Music Critic Top Ten Lists [Updated Jan. 7], Notable Video Game Releases: New and Upcoming, What to Watch Now on HBO Max and the HBO App, Music title data, credits, and images provided by, Movie title data, credits, and poster art provided by.
Watch the Throne features the following things: absurdly expensive samples, a pair of choruses from Odd Future R&B singer Frank Ocean at the exact moment where he's turning the corner and becoming a Thing, another chorus from long-been-a-Thing Beyoncé, a buddy-buddy shoutout to the President of the United States, multiple namechecks of brands so expensive that you've probably never heard of half of them, a murderers' row of producers working on almost every track, and a fleeting moment where Bon Iver's Justin Vernon sounds like the funkiest man alive. It's better than West's last, impressive album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Some find this sort of branded gloating distasteful, but at their best both rappers can still make you laugh.
"Niggas in Paris" rides an impossibly propulsive synth riff and gigantic drums and gives Jay a chance to display the technical rap wizardry he still has in him.
Now THAT, we knew it would be. On "No Church in the Wild", he authoritatively vows, "You will not control the threesome." Power here is conceived as a swaggering taunt of achievement, in line with both men's previous works, which routinely double as shopping guides. A complete album in every way, kudos to Kanye and his production work with a few smudges, but congratulations to Jay-Z remains one of the best MC ever.
Once in a while, they even sound vaguely humble. Watch the Throne is in no way a disappointment; in fact, it satisfies expectations perfectly.
What are the chances of a fatherless drug dealer such as Carter becoming king of the world? At the end of listening can be said that Watch The Throne is a classic, but at the same time an innovative work for 2011. this album is one of the best collabo albums. Ye always sounds better, with better melody, rhymes n message in the songs...jay kinda pulled it down. The album comes hot on the heels of career-landmark albums from both artists, but the few months they spent recording it on multiple continents were practically vacations compared to the way they usually work. One day Jay-Z might get around to reading Foucault and Bourdieu. “Watch the Thrones” was a huge episode, that’s for sure, but some moments felt much better motivated than others. It's better than West's last, impressive album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Specifically, Watch the Throne is about black power, although the Black Panthers might not recognise it as such.
So: two long-reigning titans make a relatively quick album which, despite their best efforts, still winds up being a monument to their own grandiosity.
Critic Reviews My favorite tracks are no church gotta have it, n in paris, otis, ham, lift up,who gon stop me,murder to excellence, joy, prime time and ham.
Despite the title, Jay's verse is all devotional-prophet; it mostly concerns the way American beauty standards so often work against women of color. The best tracks of the album is definitely worth remembering "Welcome To The Jungle" produced by Swizz Beatz and HAM (only included in the bonus track). We waited and they came. Review Summary: What Watch the Throne needs is not a grander purpose, but any purpose.
On Watch the Throne, they push each other and have fun doing it, and the result is a stadium-sized event-rap spectacle that still sounds like two insanely talented guys' idiosyncratic vision.
On "Welcome to the Jungle", Jay, never a tortured pop star, actually says, "I'm fuckin' depressed." This retelling of his autobiography is compelling, in contrast to his recent solo form. (I liked Ocean's Twelve.). On "New Day", over a beat co-produced by RZA, he actually runs Nina Simone through Auto-Tune. On a record this ambitious, this sonically bold, it's a shame two of music's greatest storytellers don't extend their gaze beyond their own luxe lives. Throughout, he displays levels of unequaled audacity.
© 2020 CBS Interactive Inc. All rights reserved. These subtler moments are admirable, but they don't always work. Do West and Carter fear assassination? but not one of the greatest, i've been waiting for the album for a long time, but it didnt really live up to my expectations...however its a good album, but not on Ye's or Jigga's level. Embedded in all the bragging, the leering, the amorality and the preposterous way Jay-Z refers to his missus ("That's My Bitch"), there are enduring passages of contextual autobiography. Any album with Jay-z and Kanye will just be historic. Addressed to their unborn children, "New Day" exhibits some much-needed self-knowledge. Indecisiveness has plagued Watch the Throne since its inception.
And we got Otis and Ni**as In Paris out of it! While this is not my favorite album of 2011, this has got to be the most important album of 2011. The musical scope of Watch the Throne is a tribute to his distinctive taste and sense of style. There is plenty of experimentation going on throughout the. Rappers are obsessed with power. Generally favorable reviews- based on 632 Ratings, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Kanye is differently the producer of year with this and dark fantasy.
But "Why I Love You" is pure pop aggrandisement. If you buy Watch the Throne from iTunes-- the only place you can buy it at the moment-- you'll notice that it's credited to "JAY Z & Kanye West" (capital letters and missing hyphen unexplained).
i can't believe people like this guy.
The 48 Laws of Power, an infamous manual by Robert Greene, has long been required reading for hip-hoppers of a certain stature, from 50 Cent on down.
With fantastically varied production, Watch the Throne marches hungrily forward, belying its genesis in a series of swanky hotel rooms. Watch the Throne brings little of Twisted Fantasy 's boundary-melting ambition or The Blueprint 3 's commercial acumen. The two kings prove much more nimble and disciplined, displaying a confidence that suggests they're not going anywhere. But Mr. West isn't the only producer of this album, but there're also RZA, Q-Tip, Swizz Beatz and many others. This best duo of songs put together since the great outkast bless us the speakerbox and love below masterpiece.
