This company don't deserve to have custom in the future after the way they have treated people - they should be ashamed.They have no conscience and are simply greedy. www.character-cottages.co.uk is yet to start collecting reviews. One of the best rentals we have ever stayed in We loved the cottage but the company dont seem to have any contingency plans for when issues arise. Was told someone would deal with it and could i leave the key in the lockbox for them to get in?
And the area was outstanding. It says if the accommodation is no longer available through reasons beyond their control they will refund all monies, so we have quoted this to them and are getting a refund. Reading the other reviews I totally understand why people would be annoyed, however, it is a crazy time and this company represents cottages from private clients, so some of their responses are in accordance to the terms those individuals have attached to their property (which are clearly stated when you book). Hopefully the situation will have changed by then, but I knew at the time it was a non-refundable deposit and it never crossed my mind to request a refund.

On initial walk around the property we noted numerous issues and could only describe the property as dirty, it was obvious that a deep clean had NOT been undertaken. They are taking advantage of COVID and will be making double the money as they will re-rent their properties all the while stealing our hefty deposit money. I would definitely book with Character Cottages again and hopefully next time I won't have to cancel.
